Successful Showcase for Stage School

by CatBud 8 January 2010

Students from a stage school in Burton, Uttoxeter, Derby and Newhall have recently come together to provide a showcase for friends and family at The William Allitt School in Newhall, Derbyshire.

There were 3 performances on the day from intermediate, younger and older students. Each performance was to a packed audience. The students worked really hard learning lines and rehearsing songs and dances during the Winter term.

The students were given poems and drama extracts to learn and perform, this type of recital is where students learn key performance skills such as confidence on stage, using a clear and loud voice and memory skills.

The students also had to learn songs and dances to showcase their talents. This included High School Musical, Annie, Blood Brothers, Hairspray, Lion King and Grease to name but a few.

The feedback at the end of each performance was excellent with parents overwhelmed with their child’s success and what they had achieved in 10 hours of class time. The Principal Catherine Budworth said: ”We were extremely proud of everyone who took part.”

Theatre Cats have just started their Spring term this week and have available places for children aged 5-16 in some classes. For more information or to book a free taster class, simply visit the website www.TheatreCats.co.uk and complete the information Request Form or call 0845 003 8230.
