Slim Chance

What a great little one act this is, for a cast of eight women, and ideal for any amateur group.

The play is about the local slimming club, who meet once a week in the local village hall, therefore the set can be as elaborate or as simplistic as you or your groups budget allows.

Jean is the branch organsier, and is very fussy about timekeeping, and ensuring all the members stick to their plans, and show that they are losing weight!

Throughout the play we get to know the women, and their reasons for coming along once a week, including timid new member Louise. As well as being very funny, there are also some lovely touching moments, as the ladies of the group bear their souls, and the audience comes to realise that slimming is the last thing on their minds.

When Jean reveals that Head Office are likely to close them down due to the lack of weight loss, the group come up with some very inventive figure work of their own.

The great thing about this play is that the age range is limitless as well, so it really is very versatile.

I enjoyed reading this so much that I am looking at producing this at a local group of my own. Watch this space I will keep you posted as to how it goes.
