This comedy takes place at the funeral of national treasure Dave Thursby. All of Dave’s nearest and dearest are gathered and remember him in their own way, from his agent to his widow, and Dave’s writer, who claims he knew Dave best, and had no secrets from him.
However an unexpected visitor arrives, Dave’s ex wife, who was married to Dave before he was famous, and we get to learn later never actually got divorced.
All sorts of humorous slip ups occur, and this continues into Act II, which takes place three weeks later at the scattering of Dave’s ashes.
Eric Chappell does this type of comedy well, surrounding death, as in a previous play of his I have read – Natural Causes.
A definite play for local am dram groups, with a cast of six (2M4W) – highly recommend.
