Nigel Garton writes:

A couple of weeks ago I visited The Newhampton Arts Centre in Wolverhampton to discuss room hire for doing a children’s musical theatre workshop. One of the ladies who runs it, Claire, showed me around and I was really impressed with the place, and the fact that Wolverhampton has this marvellous space promoting the Arts. It was during the tour that Claire told me there was a lack of this sort of class for adults. I know Wolverhampton has a strong Amateur Theatrical reputation with its many societies, and I thought a class of this sort would be a supplement for performers in those Companies, and also appeal to the complete novice who would love to spend a couple of hours a week learning a routine or a song without committing to the hours that being in a full blown production entails. It will also be great fun and a chance for the participants to meet new people.

I run a lot of for students and their parents are always saying they wish there was something like that on offer for them to join in with, so I thought I would try something similar out with this free session at The Newhampton Arts Centre with the idea that it will lead to a regular event. I recently did one of my for a WI group and it went really well, everyone said they had a great deal of fun with the chance to be creative, and the day was a huge success.

Come and join in this free Workshop, open to adults where you will get the chance to experience what it is like to have a rehearsal for a West End Show. The Workshop is at The Newhampton Arts Centre on the 23rd March between 7pm-9pm and will be taken by Nigel Garton who has appeared in many West End Shows such as Cats, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Me and My Girl.

It doesn’t matter what your ability, whether you have been in a show…or not, the emphasis will be on fun and achieving YOUR best.

Come and make some new friends, build your confidence or expand the skills you have.
