Wanted – Musical Director For Sister Act
MUSICAL DIRECTOR URGENTLY NEEDED FOR MHMTC’s PRODUCTION OF SISTER ACT
Mill Hill Musical Theatre Company has announced that it is tackling one of its most ambitious productions ever this coming October – Sister Act.
However, with just six weeks to go until the Company is due to start rehearsals, it suddenly finds itself without a Musical Director.
Christine Hubbard, chairman of MHMTC, said, “We had already started pre-production on Sister Act, when, unfortunately, our appointed MD had to withdraw due to unforeseen circumstances.”
“In collaboration with the Artistic Director, the MD will be responsible in helping to set the tone and feel of the whole show. Our MD will also need to be a pianist who will run the rehearsals and organise the music for the show, ensuring the show’s stars and chorus get to grips with all of the songs.
“We are keen to hear from any MDs or accompanists who are interested in working with us. Our rehearsals, which take place every Monday evening from 8pm, start on 3 April. In September, we also rehearse on Wednesdays.”
First performed in the West End in 2009 and now a global sensation, musical comedy Sister Act is about wannabe stage star Delores Van Cartier on the run from her gangland boyfriend, who’s given refuge in a rundown Philadelphia convent. At first in conflict with the nuns in the convent, Delores helps to turn round its fortunes– and finds love with cop Sweaty Eddie.
MHMTC is bringing the larger-than-life production, featuring the music of Oscar-winner Alan Menken, to the leafy Mill Hill suburbs with five performances of Sister Act, running from Wednesday 25-Saturday 28 October 2017.
Those interested in finding out more about dates, venue and payment, should contact Christine Hubbard as soon as possible via email on info [at] mhmtc [dot] co [dot] uk.
