  This year the Woking Drama Festival moves towards the start of its second half a century and is by no means a small achievement.

  Over the years the Woking Festival has grown to become one of the largest drama competitions in the British Isles and certainly one of the most respected for its quality of performance allied to a wonderful auditorium and stage complete with up-to-date sound and lighting facilities.

  Our adjudicator this year, Paul Fowler, GoDA, is absolutely delighted to be making a return adjudicating visit to Woking and the Rhoda McGaw Theatre for the 2009 Drama Festival.  Paul, who also officiated at Woking in 2004, has been involved in the amateur theatre all his adult life, spending over 30 years as an actor, director and stage manager, company committee member, chairman and festival organiser.

  We have, again, attracted some new companies alongside our regular participants to provide a wide and varied Programme of 22 one-act plays over our 2 week run and this includes 4 new plays hitting the stage for the first time. It is so rewarding to have playwrights bring their new work to Woking.

  I hope that you will come and join all of us, both on stage and off stage, for at least one night during this year’s Festival; however, with such a wide selection of plays and entries from both local theatre companies and those from further afield, I hope that you will choose to attend more than one evening. Our single night Ticket prices give excellent value for money. Our popular Season Ticket improves on that too!
