Keighley Playhouse’s next production is a Christmas treat…
It’s just another peaceful Christmas in the Bailey household but chestnuts aren’t roasting on an open fire and although a silent night would be welcome, all is not calm and all is certainly not bright in Keighley Playhouse’s forthcoming production of A Kick In The Baubles.
Frank does not wish it could be Christmas every day – in fact, he’s dreading the arrival of his snobbish in-laws who only ever bring a single bottle of wine for the festivities and hog the Ferrero Rocher all night. Then the neighbours – hard-nut Gary & his boisterously brassy girlfriend Julie – arrive, threatening to provide their own style of entertainment… let the drink flow merrily and everything is set for a car crash Christmas.
The observations in Keighley Playhouse’s production of A Kick In The Baubles adopts a familiar formula: nuts that nobody eats, gifts that nobody wants and company that nobody can stand.
This hilarious family comedy details all the things that can go badly wrong at Christmas. Frank’s still doing the turkey & Jean’s already hit the Bucks Fizz! But when Frank and Jean’s estranged daughter Milly suddenly appears, the rug is pulled out from underneath the chaos and the heartstrings are firmly tugged.
There is stress, tension and anger at every turn, laughter and sudden, heart stopping tenderness. A good night-out is guaranteed with excellent performances from a very talented cast that might just jingle your bells!”
