All aboard for the Titfield Thunderbolt!
- Apr 2nd 2009 to Apr 4th 2009
Ealing-based drama group, the Beaufort Players, are delighted to be one of the UK’s first amateur theatre groups to stage the innovative ‘The Titfield Thunderbolt’ by Philip Goulding, based on the Ealing Comedy (screenplay by T.E.B Clarke) of the same name.
Set in the 1950s, it is an interactive comedy-drama about a group of villagers trying to prevent British Railways from closing the fictional Titfield branch line.
“It’s a great honour to be one of the first to stage this adaptation, especially here in Ealing itself,” explained the play’s Director, Diana Dishley. “It also presents us with something of a staging challenge – particularly in recreating the chase between a steam train and a bus!”
