All in the Timing
- Aug 21st 2009 7:30 pm to Aug 29th 2009 7:30 pm
Hey all,
Just thought i’d drop by and invite you all to ‘All In The Timing’ by renowned playwright David Ives, to be performed at the New Players Theatre between 21st August and 29th August. but what is it about i hear you shout? well the main draw of this (apart from the quality of acting) is that it’s an hour and half long and consists of six plays for the price of one! we have:
Words, Words, Words- recalls the adage that three monkeys typing forever will eventually produce Hamlet, and asks: what would monkeys talk about at their typewriters?
Variations on the Death of Trotsky- shows us the great revolutionary on the day of his death, desperately trying to come to terms with the mountain climber’s axe he has found in his head.
Sure Thing- two people meet and find their way through a conversational minefield as a bell interrupts their faux pas, gaffes and false starts on the way to falling in love.
Seven Menus- charts the comings and goings of a set of friends while they navigate their complicated love lives and struggle with the ultimate question: why call a restaurant seven menus when there is only one?
Foreplay, or the art of Fugue- introduces us to three instances in the life of Chuck, as he attempts with varying degrees of success to convince three very different ladies that miniature golf really is a metaphor for life.
English made simple- treats language as a science experiment and a couple at party as the ultimate guinea pigs, exploring subtext, fate and much, much more!
Monkeys, Trotsky and miniature golf? c’mon, there’s something for everyone!
