Southside players October Production – Blood Wedding
Lorca’s Blood Wedding is a classic of twentieth–century theatre. The story is based on a newspaper fragment which told of a family vendetta and a bride who ran away with the son of the enemy family. Southside will perform the adaptation by Ted Hughes, which combines powerful poetic text with the violence and pathos of the play.
There is a cast of between 10 and 20, depending on any doubling and size of chorus, with parts for both men and women varying in age from the young lovers to the old parents and the ageless (and even sexless) moon! The show will include elements of movement and music, to create Spanish heat and tempo, but not all characters will need to be able to sing and dance.
Auditions will be held on Sunday 12 June from 2pm . Performanes October 26 to 29 2011. The audition piece (one for all parts) will be available early May. Contact Liz if you are interested in auditions on lizsteer [at] hotmail [dot] co [dot] uk.
