Auditions for Lope de Vega’s – Dog in the Manger with modern translation by David Johnston for the RSC ‘Spanish Golden Age’.
Roles to be filled:-
Diana – Countess of Belflor Age range 20-30’s V large role
Teodoro – Male Secretary to the Countess – 20- 30’s V large role
Tristan – Theo’s servant 20-40’s V large role
Marcela- Lady in Waiting – Large role 20’s – 30’s
Marquis Ricardo – Comedic Medium role 20’s – 40’s
Count Frederico – Comedic Medium role 20’s – 40’s
Fabio – Countess servant –In love with Marcela (med role) Will be also Celio – Marquis Ricardo’s servant (small role) 20’s to 30’s
Octavio Leonido and Furio – one man to play all three roles as servants (small comedic roles but on and off all the time) Can be any age
Anarda – Head Lady in Waiting – slightly more script than Dorotea 20 – 30’s
Dorotea – Lady in Waiting – Small role but on and off a lot 20’s – 40’s
Count Ludovico – Elderly Only in the last few scenes so for someone that doesn’t want to come to lots of rehearsals!
Camilo – old companion to the Count. Again as above
