DarlingtonOS are truly riding a crest of a wave right now. Not only are they about to open with their eagerly awaited production of The Full Monty at the Darlington Civic Theatre but they have been chosen as one of a select number of UK theatre societies to be given the rights to perform the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice masterpiece, Jesus Christ Superstar as their next production in April 2010.

Next year heralds the 40th anniversary of the show that recounts the last seven days of Jesus Christ as seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot, and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Really Useful Group have given a select number of societies throughout the country the opportunity to present this groundbreaking musical masterpiece. DarlingtonOS will be one of the first with their production taking place at the Civic Theatre from April 21st to May 1st.

A spokesman from DarlingtonOS said “This is really a great boost for the Society. To be offered the chance to produce this wonderfully dramatic piece of musical theatre as part of it’s 40th anniversary celebrations is indeed an honour.”

“We are expecting an influx of people wishing to join us to be a part of this show and we will welcome them all with open arms” Julian added. “First rehearsal for the show will be on Thursday November 12th at the Arts Centre on Vane Terrace at 7.30pm. We would encourage as many people as possible to come along if they want to be a part of this production…. and one lucky person will get to take on one of the most challenging roles in musical theatre, that of Jesus Christ.”
