Guido Auditions
Mayhem Musical Theatre Company are holding open auditions over the next two weeks (6th – 17th Sept) for the leading role of Guido for their forthcoming production of the smash hit Broadway musical and Hollywood movie “NINE”. Performance dates are 10th to 13th November 2010 at the Arthur Cotterell Theatre, Kingston-upon-Thames with rehearsals on Monday and Thursday evenings in Morden as well as Sunday afternoons in South Wimbledon.
For those who don’t know the show, the role of Guido (originated by Raul Julia, revived by Antonio Banderas and played by Daniel Day Lewis in the recent movie) is a huge, show-carrying, never-leave-the-stage role, offering a real dramatic and vocal challenge.
Character Description – Guido Contini (vocal ability required)
- approx playing age (40)
- confused, frustrated, uninspired film director
- well respected by the film community but struggling to find inspiration for his new film
- conflicted feelings with several women in his life
- loves his wife but takes her for granted
- self absorbed
