Auditions – The Wedding Singer

Award-winning amateur theatre company, Stage One, are holding auditions on Sunday 1st March for their next production, ‘The Wedding Singer’ to be performed in Ilford between 6th and 9th May 2008.
This production is being directed by Simon Lipkin – the original ‘Trekkie Monster’ from the West End’s ‘Avenue Q’, ‘Willard’ in the recent UK tour of ‘Footloose’ and the original ‘Sammy’ in the UK tour of ‘The Wedding Singer’.
The auditions are being held in Romford, Essex.
We are looking for male and female performers for all lead, supporting and company roles.
Roles include:
Robbie Hart (Rock Tenor, plays guitar, 25 – 35) a musician and lead singer for a trio that plays at weddings – very charismatic yet insecure with “puppy dog” appeal
Julia Sullivan (Soprano, 25 – 35) Robbie’s friend – a sweet and understanding yet naive waitress for a catering firm – comedic ingenue
Glen Guglia (Baritone, 30 – 45) a calculating, money-loving Wall Street type
Linda (Rock belt, 20 – 30) Robbie’s trashy, oversexed girlfriend – Pat Benetar type
Holly (Pop belt, 20 – 30) Julia’s bubbly, uninhibited, & loveable cousin
Sammy (plays guitar) Robbie’s friend and trio guitarist, not terribly bright but well meaning and supportive
George (strong falsetto, comic role) Robbie’s flamboyantly gay, eccentric friend and fellow trio member
Rosie (Soprano, comic role, 50+) Robbie’s feisty grandmother
