Auditions – Thoroughly Modern Millie

Our f irst meeting for our Spring 2010 show, Thoroughly Modern Millie, will be Tuesday 13th October at 7.30pm at St Barnabas Church, Lavenham Road, Southfields, SW18
Based on the 1967 film of the same name, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of a small-town girl, Millie Dillmount, who comes to New York City to marry for money instead of love – a thoroughly modern aim in 1922, when women were just entering the workforce. Millie soon begins to take to delight in the flapper lifestyle, but problems arise when she checks into a hotel owned by the leader of a white slavery ring in China.
With a full score of jazzy songs and bright dance numbers, Millie took Broadway by storm and won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2002! It’s an ambitious show for Cygnets and to pull this one off we need a talented Principal line up, some strong character actors, a large, energetic ensemble…and don’t forget some tap-dancing stenographers!
