Billy Fisher is an undertaker’s clerk and more than bored with his lot. Dissatisfied with his North Country family background, Billy disappears into his own fantasy world. It is his imagination that makes the world around him more tolerable but more than frustrates those around him. He entangles himself in a web of lies leading him from one predicament to another. In trouble with his boss for spending money that isn’t his and engaged to two women, Billy seems to get further and further into trouble. Will the return of his ex-girlfriend offer him the release that he so craves?
