In this riotious farce by Michael (son of Ray) Cooney, unemployed Eric Swan has been fiddling benefits from the DSS, rather than confess to his wife that he lost his job two years ago. With the help of his Uncle George, whose job at the hospital enables them to forge medical papers, he’s claimed thousands of pounds in benefits on behalf of his previous and current lodgers and their fictitious families. But Eric’s attempt to kill off his imaginary claimants prompts a flood of visitors including DSS inspector Mr Jenkins, bereavement counsellor Miss Chessington, undertaker Mr Forbright and Jenkins’s boss, Ms Cowper, and a morass of mistaken identities, cross-dressing and apparently dead bodies coming back to life ensues ….
