• A play by Paul Doust, adapted from Stella Gibbons’ classic comic novel
  In this stage adaptation of the wonderfully funny tongue in cheek classic rural novel, Flora Poste, the heroine, likes everything to be tidy, pleasant and comfortable. When she decides to go and live with her eccentric relatives at Cold Comfort Farm in Howling, Sussex, she does her best to alter her surroundings and encourage those around her to greater things. This, however, proves difficult, as the insane Grandmother, Ada Doom, who constantly informs us that many years ago she “saw something narsty in the woodshed,” insists on keeping all of her family around her on a very tight rein, terrified to leave.
  Flora, determined to succeed, manages to transform her relatives, one by one into enlightened individuals ready to tackle the outside world, and as for Ada Doom she too finds a purpose. But will we ever find out just what it was that she saw in the woodshed, all those years ago……..
