Recipe For Fun!
Keighley Playhouse gets in a savoury stew for their seasonal opener.
What’s more important in a good marriage: being able to make each other laugh or being able to write a good cookbook?
The Keighley Playhouse forthcoming production Cookin’ With Gus sees Gussie Richardson, a famous food columnist and cookbook author, getting the chance to star on TV. Her agent informs her she has been offered her own daily network television show. She wants to do it, but her husband Walter is dead set against it and then Gussie discovers she has stage fright and can’t open her mouth in front of a camera – but the show must go on!
Everybody tries to help her get over it . . . Walter through hypnotism, Bernie her agent by threats; even crazy Gypsy Carmen from next door casts spells. Just when she thinks she’s cured, the show turns into a comic nightmare concluding in an all out food fight. Can there be such a thing as too much fame? Gus doesn’t think so. She just wants to be loved – and loved, and loved!
