Extra Information

  • Notes: Church Stretton’s Drama Group, the Dorrington Players, present a comedy thriller, “Curtain Up on Murder” by Bettine Manktelow at 7.30 pm on Thursday 15th, Friday 16th, and Saturday 17th November 2007 in the Silvester Horne Institute, High Street, Church Stretton. Free parking is available nearby after 6.00pm in the Co-Op carpark. An amateur drama group is rehearsing in its theatre at the end of a pier. A storm is raging overhead when they discover that someone has locked them all in. Panic sets in as they realise that there is deliberate subterfuge behind sinister events which unfold. The audience may think they are watching a re-write of an Agatha Christie classic. At times menacing, and perhaps not for the faint-hearted, the play nevertheless has plenty of comic relief, and builds to a dramatic turn of events which will not only amuse but may even stun the audience. Pauline Greenhough returns to the stage to play a career-minded Linda, whilst Alice Morton gives her debut as the apprehensive Ginny. An overly enthusiastic Sandra is played by Mary Stephenson, a rather dim caretaker, Harry, by Andrew Chapman, and the conceited Alex by Richard Haswell. Adrian Bayling plays Martin, the capable director, and Elizabeth Walsh (formerly Leader) is the dippy Moppet. Fans of Elizabeth will be pleased to hear of her recent marriage to fellow Dorrington Player Paul Walsh. The play is directed by father of the bride Jim Rossell. Tickets are available in advance from Burway Books (10 Beaumont Road) and John R Thomas, florist(3 Sandford Avenue) at £5.00 per adult, or £6.00 at the door. Under sixteens are half price. Secretary: Helen Townend: Tel. 01694 751376You may book by post by sending a cheque and a Stamped, Self addressed envelope at least three weeks before the production date.
