• Notes: Young Dick Whittington arrives in London expecting to find his fortune right away. He doesn’t, but he does meet some new friends, including the lovely Alice Fitzwarren, her father the Lord Mayor, and a stray Cat called Tabitha. Their adventures take them aboard ship with Cap’n Hand and his crew, to be landed on an unknown tropical island where their fortunes take a further twist or two.Menacing the whole scene is villainous King Rat, intent on using an army of rodents to take control of London for himself. Who will win the final battle and inherit the Mansion House? Will it be Whittington or King Rat?The writer, Mike Brook, adds: “I have written a new version of this traditional show because of all the pantos Dick Whittington has the most interesting and complicated plot. Added for this version is a mixture of popular songs ancient and modern, and lots of dance numbers and choreographed action.”
