The 1984 F.A. Cup final: Watford vs Everton. Elton John & Graham Taylor have taken a nowhere 4th division club to the very top in 6 years. But the dream died that day.Years later, agoraphobic ex-fan Bill spends his days living in a hovel close to Watford’s ground, replaying that fateful moment on a videotape that’s almost worn out. Traumatised by the defeat and his own failure in life, he’s retreated from the world, visited only on match days by Julie, with whom he is having a secret affair. Today is the last match of the season – if Watford lose, they are relegated.
  • Bill is visited for the first time in many years by his younger brother Dan, manager of the band Goldilox, and fellow band members Shaun and Tim. They’re on their way to play a gig, but without their instruments they have a bit of a problem. Sixteen year-old Amy turns up wanting a game of football. And when Julie turns up for her assignation with Bill, things get really complicated…

‘A comedy about ageing, failure and football’, this play is funny and sad in equal measure.
