Extra Information
- Notes: After the huge success of ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’ at Richmond Theatre in January, BROS Theatre Company continues its Centenary year with ‘Flora the Red Menace’.Created almost 40 years ago by the legendary song-writing duo responsible for writing CABARET and CHICAGO, Frank Kander and John Ebb, it made a star out of its young leading lady, Liza Minnelli, who won a Tony for Best Actress as Flora. With a revised book from 1987, ‘Flora’ is packed with sensational songs and a host of delightful and humorous characters as well as having a charming and entertaining story.Set in New York in 1935 ‘Flora’ tells of a young woman determined to succeed as a fashion illustrator. She falls in love with a radical young artist who, like many youthful idealists, believes that communism could lead America out of the Depression and into a better world. Flora’s love leads her to join the Party but with surprising and sometimes unexpected results.
