‘You’ve seen the film, now experience the toe tapping Musical!
With its Oscar-nominated hit score (the film soundtrack album has sold over 15 million copies worldwide) come and see the celebrated musical with hits including “Let’s Hear it for the Boy”, “Holding out for a Hero” and of course, “Footloose”!
Footloose is based in the fictional town of Bomont, where nobody is allowed to dance (this is not to say the characters in Bomont can’t move because they certainly can!)
In this lively musical, a city kid attempts to adapt to life in an ultra-conservative backwater Midwestern town. Once there, he ends up leading the repressed teenagers into a rebellion against the town fathers, who have outlawed rock & roll and dancing.
Directed by Vic Atkins with musical direction from Ben Davies, all the famous hits now bursts explosively onto the Rhiwbina stage. Performed by an outstanding cast of amateurs, the Rhiwbina Amateur Theatre Society bring the musical to life. Make sure you don’t miss out! Starts 7.30pm from Tuesday 25 until Saturday 29 January 2011.
Rhiwbina Amateur Theatrical Society (RATS) was formed unofficially in 1957. Its first production was in February 1958, Agatha Christies ‘The Hollow’, which was repeated in April 1989 as their 100th.
For the last 20 years or so they have put on four shows a year, performing a very wide variety of productions and their high standards are recognised as virtually unique for a group performing in a village hall.
