Extra Information

  • Notes: Bella Manningham is slowly losing her mind. Her husband’s tyranny and the insolence of her housemaid, plus the air of mystery in her home, have driven her almost to breaking-point. Patrick Hamilton’s powerful drama, “Gaslight” is set at the end of the last century. It tells the story of how a married woman is completely controlled by her husband. While Jack Manningham goes out on the town each evening, his wife stays at home alone, listening to the mysterious footsteps overhead, cowering in her room lit only by the shadowy gaslight. This sinister psychological thriller about a man who plots to drive his wife insane so that he can get his hands on her money is brought to you by the ever popular Belmont Theatre Company, who are in a new home at Pump House after being in Harrow Arts Centre for 20 years.
