HOT MIKADO – Impact Theatre Company – Finchley – London
VENUE – ARTS DEPOT – FINCHLEY N12 – 16th – 19th March 2011 – In aid of Alzheimer’s Society
“Hot Mikado” Impact Theatre Company’s musical comedy is an updated production of the famous Gilbert and Sullivan light opera, a hilarious 1940s-style musical, with a glorious, high-energy mix of blues, swing, gospel and jive. This all-singing, all-dancing show will blow you away! It is running from the 16th to the 19th March at The Artsdepot North Finchley.
This production is supporting Alzheimer’s Society, (reg charity no. 296645) an organization which works to improve the quality of life of people affected by dementia in Britain. Every year Alzheimer’s Society helps over 86,000 people with dementia, their families and carers.
Professional actress and director Amanda Noar, the producer, says “since the Company began, we have raised more than £120,000 for various charities, but this charity means so much to me, as my dad had the disease and I saw first hand what a devastating effect it had on all my family.”
Impact Theatre Company is a hugely creative and contemporary theatre company, founded by Amanda Noar 12 years ago. From humble beginnings with just a handful of locals, Impact has evolved into a thriving and highly successful theatre company. Cast members are from North London, from many cultural backgrounds and age groups. The Company, based in Finchley, North London, prides itself on being a community orientated group, welcoming all those who are enthusiastic and willing enough to “have a go”. Impact has a dedicated group of 40-60 performers, with a very loyal following in the community, resulting in sell out performances.
Rhiannon Rose, who plays the role of Katisha, (and one of Impact’s newest members), is no stranger to the lime light, having competed in the BBC’s search for leading lady Nancy in the musical Oliver! Rhiannon was amongst the final 25, out of thousands, for the role. She has worked with the famous and talented Lord Lloyd Webber, John Barrowman and Denise Van Outen and is delighted to be making her debut with Impact, particularly under the direction of Amanda Noar in this challenging and exciting role.
The actor, Neil Morrissey, is patron of the Impact Theatre Company and will be attending performances of Hot Mikado, lending his consistently great support and high profile to Impact’s charity work.
Soap star and former Coronation Street actress, Angela Lonsdale, a passionate supporter of Alzheimer’s Society, will be hosting our special Gala Night on Wednesday 16th March. Best known for playing Emma Taylor in Coronation Street, Angela has also appeared in The Bill and Doctors. Angela has also experienced the devastating effect of dementia as her mother, Yvonne, died with the condition in 2007 aged just 63.
