Brecht as…

brash comic cabaret…
cool calculated history…
a clash between fun and fear…

…as you have never seen it before.

I, Bertolt Brecht is all of this and more besides. It challenges and informs. It entertains and disturbs.  We explore through Brecht’s writing, poems and Hanns Eisler’s music the everyday conundrums, fears and concerns of ordinary people in Nazi Germany. Bertolt Brecht was the master of contradiction, of “chaos according to plan” and this show encapsulates exactly that.  Vivid theatricality on the one hand, and the very real human dilemma on the other.

What would you have done if you had lived in Hitler’s Germany?  Would you have been a hero or a coward? Join the ensemble in celebrating Brecht’s ideas, whilst reflecting on the lives of those enmeshed in the reality of the times.
