About the show
Victoria Wood was one of the UK’s best-loved entertainers with a career spanning more than four decades. Probably best known for her 1980s series ’Victoria Wood: As Seen On TV’ and for her on-screen partnership with Julie Walters, she created a whole host of memorable characters, sketches and songs that remain in the hearts of the nation.
Let’s Do It is a celebration of her work that recreates some of the classic sketches from ‘As Seen on TV’, along with some of the most memorable characters from her stand-up routines. The show includes such sketches as The Trolley sketch, Two Soups, Kelly Marie Tunstall at the bus stop, along with a series of monologues: Kitty, Madeleine the Hairdresser, and of course Kimberley’s friend (‘’Ave you seen ‘er?”).
The show also pays tribute to her musical brilliance, using some of her well-known and less familiar songs – and who could forget Acorn Antiques? The evening would not be complete without the infamous Mrs Overall and her trays of macaroons. Let’s Do It promises laugh-out-loud memories, and even a few tears, as we remember the inimitable Victoria Wood in true Cygnets’ style.

Cygnet Players

Cygnet Players is a fun and friendly amateur theatre society, based in south west London. We perform musicals, plays and sometimes also concerts, at least three times a year in different venues across south west London, with rehearsals in Southfields on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and some Sundays. Our ever-growing membership includes people from aged 16-60, but we’re always looking for new talent! The society is a mix of people from all walks of life, who share a common interest. Whilst we pride ourselves on putting on high quality shows, we never forget that amateur theatre is a hobby and that it should be fun - you'll find us a very sociable bunch. Rehearsals usually spill over into the local pub and our social activities are always full of surprises! Ultimately, everyone has one thing in common: we don't want to sit at home every night, watching television! www.cygnetplayers.com
