Lord Arthur Savile’s Crime by Constance Cox
13th, 14th, 15th January 2011
Based on a short story by Oscar Wilde, this play treats us to language and characters familiar from his own plays, in a hilarious comedy of manners and murder.
Shortly before his wedding, the mother of his fiancée, introduces Lord Arthur to a Palmist who foresees a dark act in his future. With the help of his long suffering butler and the President of the Royal Society of Anarchists, Arthur sets about cheating his future to ensure the happiness of his marriage. But which of Lord Arthur’s circle must perish to produce the happy ending? Combining Wilde’s absurdities of speech with a twisting plot, this is a show to warm the heart and tickle the funny bone on dark January evenings.
The production starts at 8pm and all seats are £8 each on Fridays and Saturdays, and £7 on Thursdays, and usually go on sale approximately three weeks before each production
