Extra Information

  • Notes: Mr. Gilbert and Mr. Sullivan’s Evening of Songs and SnatchesBanbury Operatic Society are delighted to announce that their forthcoming production will be a cornucopia from the works of this famous partnership and will comprise fully costumed, staged and choreographed excerpts from many of their collaborations. The evening will include songs from The Pirates of Penzance; The Mikado; Iolanthe; Ruddigore; Patience; The Gondoliers The Yeoman of the Guard and Trial by Jury in full. These excerpts will be linked by snatches of the dialogue from the operas together with reminiscing from Gilbert, Sullivan and D’Oyly Carte – all of whom, by the wonders of modern technology ! – have agreed to join us each evening of the 20th, 21st, 23rd and 24th October 2006.Rehearsals and auditions are now just getting under way and anyone wishing to ” overcome their diffidence and natural timidity” and join in the ” tripping hither and thither” should come along to Wykham Hall, Banbury School on Monday evenings asap. (We will not be meeting during the w. com.29th May). The show will be under the baton of Philip Shaw, directed by Janet Bishop and choreographed by Sharon Ulla. These three last collaborated on the Society’s very successful production of Princess Ida and have many ideas for making this a fast paced, very melodic and humorous production. For further details please contact Janet Bishop on 01451 821216.
