- Notes: The drama tells a story of shattered dreams as we follow the exploits of two itinerant ranch hands, George Milton (played by Don McKay) and Lennie Small (played by Scott Andrews). George acts as a father figure to Lennie, who is large and simple-minded and whose strength is his own worst enemy.The pair dream of owning a small farm one day where Lennie can tend rabbits and they can live off the fat of the land. But soon after coming to work on a ranch in the Salinas Valley their hopes, like “the best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men,” start to go awry. Lennie, annoyed by the bullying foreman of the ranch, breaks the man’s hand and also wakes the interest of the ranch boss’ flirtatious daughter-in-law… with disastrous consequences.
