- Notes: Peace in Our Time – the words still conjure up a picture of a little man stepping out of an aeroplane waving a piece of paper. War had been avoided and we could all sleep easier in our beds, couldn’t we …?Noel Coward’s extraordinary play, set in a London pub, takes us back to those dark days and creates a new and frightening vision of the turbulent years between 1940 – 1945. Coward himself was high on the Gestapo’s assassination list, and it was perhaps that knowledge which prompted this evocative drama.
