Return to the Forbidden Planet

Dorking Dramatic and Operatic Society (DDOS), based in Dorking, Surrey are putting on the phenomenal production, Return to the Forbidden Planet, on the 2nd – 6th March 2010.

If you’ve already heard of this musical, then you don’t need to be told how fantastic it is. Packed full of rock’n'roll numbers (Good Vibrations, Wipeout, Young Girl, She’s Not There and Shake Rattle and Roll to name a very few) and high energy dance numbers, this show will have you captivated (and singing along!) from start to finish.

Loosely based around the 1950′s sci-fi film ‘Forbidden Planet’ (which itself is loosely based on Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’), the plot follows the crew of a routine survey flight under the command of Captain Tempest. Their spaceship is drawn mysteriously to the planet D’Illyria where mad scientist Doctor Prospero and his lovely daughter Miranda are marooned.

This extremely popular jukebox musical won the Olivier Award for ‘Best Musical’ in 1989, before returning the following year (beating competition such as ‘Miss Saigon’), to take the prestigious title again.

The cast been rehearsing since last September and the show is set to look stunning. With an extremely talented cast (who both perform in the show and in the band), ingenious crew, set and lighting designers behind the scenes, as well as the excellent leadership of both the Director/Choreographer and Musical Director, this show can’t disappoint!

Group bookings are more than welcome; why not bring all the family along!

The Box Office number is 01306 881717 and tickets are on sale (and selling fast…) NOW!

We look forward to seeing you there!
