- Jan 25th 2009
The 1977 BBC TV series ‘Ripping Yarns’ is currently being adapted to the stage by Milton Keynes Theatre of Comedy with the exclusive permission of the former Monty Python men themselves.
Three episodes from this classic comedy series spoofing boys own adventure style stories will be performed by Milton Keynes Theatre of Comedy at The Chrysalis Theatre, Camphill, Milton Keynes from 7th to 11th July 2009.
An introduction evening is being held at MADCAP, Creed Street, Wolverton on the 25th January 2009 at 7.30pm, to which all local actors are invited. This is an opportunity to hear more about plans for the stage adaptations and the opportunities both on stage and behind the scenes. Auditions will follow in February. Around 20 actors will be required for this production Upper class twits, mild mannered butlers, boring shovel-obsessed yorkshiremen, vulture breeders, armed robbers, intrepid explorers, sex mad Peruvian natives … the list goes on and on! There are also ‘behind the scenes’ roles available.
Milton Keynes Theatre of Comedy is a well established theatre group specialising in comedies and pantomimes and produced a stage adaptation of ‘The Ladykillers’ in 2008 and the sell out ‘Allo ‘Allo in 2007. The group is totally self financing and receives no funding, and sponsors are being sought to contribute towards the success of this high profile production.
