Extra Information

  • Notes: Far from being a romantic tale in doublet and hose, Romeo & Juliet is a story of family feuding, blood-thirsty youths, forced marriages and subjugated women, where, through the passion and will-power of the individual, we can see the true nature and power of love. As such it is one of the best known love-stories of the western world. And yet, though we all desire that love should “conquer all”, the playing out of this drama leads the audience to the certain reality that there are no happy endings – only the journey through life to death. But, as with all good tales, it is what we determine to do with our lives and who we want to live them with, against all the odds, that makes the drama worth the telling.
