Both plays performed by the Birdies Group on Weds 1st July 7.45 pm & Sat 4th July 2.30 pm
Stone Soup:
An old woman, denied food by the inhabitants of a village, publicly declares that she can make soup from a stone. Only they need a carrot… and a potato… and a few more ingredients to make it taste really good. Everyone in the town contributes something, pronounces the soup delicious and learns the magic behind it: sharing.
The Singing Door:
A community of underground dwellers worship at an altar of broken down machinery and a door, believing that one day the door will open and they will go outside – whatever that may be. The community is governed by officials from the higher levels, but what happens when the ‘Low-levellers’ start to demand a part in the revered ceremony of the door – and where does ‘the other door’ lead?
