Suddenly at Home by Francis Durbridge

This classic thriller by Francis Durbridge, the mater of suspense and famous for his Paul Temple series, weaves its intricate path through a story of love and greed to its ultimate end, death.

When Glen Howard decides to get rid of his wealthy wife he works out a complicated but seemingly foolproof plan which would not only provide him with an alibi but also cast suspicion on his wife’s former lover.  Everything appears to be going according to plan, but Glenn has not counted on the indomitable Superintendent Remick.

This is Durbridge as his very best.
