All aboard with Lord Loam and his family of Edwardian aristocrats to be joyously shipwrecked in J M Barrie’s classic comedy, The Admirable Crichton.
Lord Loam favours more equality between the masters and servants – the monthly tea parties he insists on holding between ‘upstairs and downstairs’ are as embarrassing as they are hilarious.
But his Jeeves-like butler Crichton believes the class system exists for good reasons.
When the whole family, including Lord Loam’s three beautiful daughters, are marooned on an idyllic island in the South Seas, will it be natural nobility or the status quo that prevails?
Originally performed at the opening of the 20th Century, The Admirable Crichton caused a minor sensation with its portrayal of one of ‘nature’s gentlemen’ rising to lord it over foppish aristocrats.
Southside Theatre Group bring their award winning production standards to this richly amusing tale of class distinction versus Darwinian selection from J M Barrie, the author of Peter Pan.
