Extra Information
- Notes: “They do say that to look upon the ghost train do mean death”. So the stationmaster at Fal Vale, Cornwall’s loneliest railway station, seeks to discourage a group of stranded passengers from staying the night in the station waiting room. But what’s really going on? There’s a thunderstorm raging outside, hardly any coal for the fire, talk of ghosts and phantom trains, and any number of people who aren’t quite what they seem. So an uncomfortable night seems to be in store for everyone – except of course our audience, who are guaranteed a cracking night’s entertainment.Arnold Ridley is of course better known for his later portrayal of Private Godfrey in ‘Dad’s Army’, and he was inspired to write this play after being stranded overnight himself at Mangotsfield railway station.
