- Notes: Wick Theatre Company is delighted to present one of the first local productions of The Lady in the Van, the recent smash hit by Alan Bennett. This quirky and poignant comedy is based on the author’s own experiences when Miss Shepherd, a smelly old eccentric, parks her dilapidated van in his driveway for what he had intended as a short three-month stay. She ends up living in the van for the next fifteen years. We meet Alan Bennett himself in two guises, as the man and as the writer, plus a large cast of characters that help to tell the story.
