Prepare to have your timbers shivered! The Centenary Company mix high teas with the high seas in a double bill of musical mirth by Gilbert and Sullivan.
Directed by Jerry Pinel, with a 14-piece live orchestra under music director Elinor Corp, first up is a rare opportunity to see NO CARDS – an early domestic farce by W.S. Gilbert in which two suitors endure disguises, discomfort and potential dismemberment in their pursuit of a wealthy young lady. Then it’s off to the Cornish coast to join THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE – a tender-hearted crew pitted against flat-footed policemen, hard-nosed damsels in distress and a lily-livered (but very modern) Major-General in the rip-roaring G&S classic that’s sure to make Roger jolly!
Tickets: £16, £14 + concessions; special matinee rate for families.
The Centenary Company returns to Greenwich Theatre following on from hit productions of The Mikado, The Gondoliers and The Grand Duke. This year it’s The Pirates of Penzance plus the rarely performed No Cards (Gilbert without Sullivan).
