About the Author

The Pantiles Players first formed in 1942 to provide local wartime entertainment, and since then, they present two or three shows a year. The Players principle production is their annual summer open-air production (usually Shakespeare)performed on the Historic Pantiles in our home town Royal Tunbridge Wells Kent. Annual open air shows on The Pantiles first began in 1951 by The Tunbridge Wells Drama Club until the Players, took over the venue in 1983. In 1988, The Pantiles Players started touring the summer productions to Lurgashall an idyllic village Nr Petworth in West Sussex where our performances take place in the garden of the village pub "The Noah's Ark". In 2007, the Players added a new venue for our summer open-air shows. In addition to The Pantiles and Lurgashall we also perform the shows at Salomons, a beautiful historic house in Southborough Kent, formally known as Sir David Salomons House, and "Romeo and Juliet" was produced there that year, in their charming walled courtyard Runcie Court. Since the success of our first open-air show at Salomons in 2007. we also perform our indoor productions in Salomons beautiful Victorian Theatre, and hold our drama workshops, social nights and AGM meetings at this beautiful historic venue.
