• Notes: All world-weary Stephen Febble wants is to be left alone but when faced with the weekend from hell he does his best to be difficult. His unhappy daughter Diana, her tedious husband Alan, a precocious grandchild Charlotte and not least the incontinent dog come to stay and it’s enough to make him reach for the whisky and sarcasm. His long suffering wife, Virginia, has organized a dinner party for the family and neighbours, but with the surprise of an uninvited guest, a rather unconventional chiropodist who charms the ladies, the action reaches it’s emotional climax.Set in Suffolk, where he spent many childhood holidays and written with great affection and knowledge of the area, the acclaimed actor, co-creator of Monty Python, and much loved travel presenter Michael Palin takes a wry look at family and relationships with black humour and pathos.
