THE WINTER’S TALE

“O, she’s warm! If this be magic, let it be an art lawful as eating.”

(2ND – 6TH AUGUST) DIRECTOR: NICK BAYLEY

Leontes seems to have the perfect life – power, wealth and a loving family. Rather than being content, however, he is possessed with a jealousy so powerful that he seeks to destroy everything around him. Can he be saved from his plight or will he be destined to lose everything? Come on a journey from Leontes’ dark and tempestuous court of Sicilia to the pastoral idyll of Bohemia in this haunting tale of love, loss and ultimate redemption. Having first performed at Pendley in 1979, we welcome back director Nick Bayley along with Douglas Dean who returns to play Leontes, having entertained audiences as the evil Richard III in 2010. He will be joined by a fantastic cast including Florence Kuhfeld as Hermione and Andrew Bolton as the clown Autolycus.
