The lieutenant finds a not so willing bride in the form of Elsie Maynard who has arrived at the tower with Jack Point, a jester. The pair are looking for silver to buy a tonic for her sick mother. At the same time Sergeant Merryll and his daughter, Phoebe, hatch a plan to help Fairfax escape his cell by tricking the Head Jailor, Wilfred Shadbolt. This they manage after Fairfax and Elsie have wed. This leaves Elsie married to man she hasn’t seen, Jack Point distraught because his sweetheart is wedded and Wilfred Shadbolt imprisoned in Fairfax’s place. To find out how the story is resolved come and see us at the Royal Theatre Northampton
