Extra Information

  • Other Information: Waiting for Godot by Samuel Beckett is now generally accepted as one of the most significant plays of the 20th century.
Two old friends, Estragon and Vladimir, converse, joke and argue with each other as they wait through one day and then another for the mysterious Godot. They are visited by Pozzo, Lucky and a boy.
When Samuel Beckett’s was first performed on the London stage 55 years ago, it shocked as many people as it delighted. There had never been a like it and it was said that Beckett had ‘achieved a theoretical impossibility—a in which nothing happens’ yet one which ‘keeps audiences glued to their seats’.
