Edge of London Theatre Company is an exciting new venture being set up during the summer of 2007. Borne out of established groups Edge of London Scriptwriters and Carshalton Actors’ Practice Sessions, EoLTC exists to produce and present new writing to audiences in the north Surrey/south London region. A mixture of straight drama and comedy, although probably no musical theatre.
Based at, but independent of, the Charles Cryer Studio Theatre, Carshalton, EoLTC is the idea of Gary Cox, who also founded EoLS and CAPS, in December ’05 and September ’06 respectively.
Gary notes: “There are many amateur companies in this area presenting existing material – and doing a fine job – but there is very little new writing that makes it to production locally. For actors and others that are necessary to take a script from page to stage, this is a chance to create original theatre; to interpret scripts that have never previously been performed – often being able to work in rehearsals with the writer – and hopefully to enjoy doing so!”
