First Act Theatre is an exciting concept in theatre for young people. We provide a professional standard of training in drama, lighting, sound, stage management, marketing and show direction and production - in fact all the operational aspects of running a professional theatre. We run regular drama workshops three nights a week, with rehearsals for forthcoming shows on a further two. All our shows are performed on the stage of the Grade II listed Jubilee Theatre in St Nicholas' Hospital, Gosforth. With over 200 members, ranging in age from 7 to 19 yrs, we are one of the largest young peoples' theatre companies in the country and, unlike most, we don't operate a waiting list for membership. We are always looking for new members who want to try acting, singing, dancing or any of the production or technical aspects of the theatre.
