This “Mini Pantomime”, specially written for a “Review” style show, takes about 20 minutes to 30 minutes to complete (but allow for audience to get involved and the songs). No set required, just the characters coming off. Costumes however are required. Of course the more bad taste in the choice of costumes the better.

This collection of performance pieces certainly is a treasure. Written by Pip Parry over a lifetime, this is a brilliant source of material for amateur theatre groups looking for festival entries, shorter pieces, something different etc.

The Fifth Elephant

Dwarves, werewolves, vampires, a troll, a large Scone, and not a trace of an elephant. That would be my summary of this recent play from Stephen Briggs, adapted from Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels.

If you search Samuel French’s online there is an entry of “Rocky Horror Show” by Richard O’Brian. As far as I’m aware this musical has never been available for amateur before. Who’s going to be the first?

update 9th Oct 2006: A telephone call to Samuel French established that whilst the play is printed by them, it is not available to amateurs. They are collecting a waiting list just in case it ever does become available. Sorry guys.
