amdram.co.uk’s Amateur Theatre Grant

Jane from amdram.co.uk is delighted to announce a new financial grant for amateur theatre groups in the UK. As from the 1st of January 2019 all income received for advertising will be donated to a chosen group for the whole calendar year.

Groups are invited to apply for this grant in writing to jane [at] amdram [dot] co [dot] uk before the 30th of November 2018 for the first award. Whilst it’s not possible to specify the amount of the grant, Jane is personally guaranteeing that it will be a minimum of £500. The successful group will have their application published on the front page of amdram.co.uk in January 2019 and must submit an article by the 31st of March 2020, including images, explaining how the grant was used and how it enhanced the group. Copies of receipts should also be submitted at this time.

Applications must be for a specific project and not just added to the group’s bank account. In order to receive the grant, the successful group MUST set up their own Just Giving Page and supply Jane with the link details. Without the Just Giving page, funds cannot be received. All advertising revenue will be paid directly from the organisation advertising into this account during the calendar year; the money will not be received as a lump sum at the beginning of the year.

There are no set criteria, projects could include setting up a youth section, replacing sound and lighting equipment, replacing flats, improving disabled access, etc. Any project will be considered and the final decision will be made by Jane and announced on the front page of amdram.co.uk on Tuesday 11th December 2018 and in the newsletter on Thursday 13th December 2018. The successful and unsuccessful groups will be informed by email before the public announcement.

To apply for the 2019 grant, applications should be submitted now by email and be as specific and detailed as possible. The more Jane understands the project, the more likely your application will be successful. Feel free to use images if necessary. At the very least the application should include:

  • Group name and performance address
  • Contact email address
  • Details of the group including previous performances and planned performances
  • Details of what the money will be used for and approximate cost of the project (this must be at least £500)
  • The amount of money the group has in funds
  • Anything else that supports the application

It is intended that this will be a yearly award and applications for 2020 will be invited towards the end of 2019, any group can apply even if their previous application was unsuccessful and can apply for the same project. The successful group will not be able to apply for a second grant for at least five years. Jane’s decision is final and no correspondence outside of the application process will be tolerated. Whilst it is not a requirement that groups applying for the grant advertise their productions and group on amdram.co.uk doing so will certainly increase their chances. The successful group will be required to add “Proudly supported by amdram.co.uk” on any advertising material during the year of their grant.

Get your application together and email it to jane [at] amdram [dot] co [dot] uk as soon as possible and certainly before the 30th of November 2018. In the event of no applications being received, Jane will nominate a charity or individual to receive the funds during that year.
